On July 29, 2000, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, one of Hollywood’s highest-profile couples, marry at the Malibu, California, estate of the producer Marcy Carsey (The Cosby Show). The two actors reportedly met on a blind date in 1998 and quickly became favorites of the tabloid media once they went public with their romance. Their wedding cost an estimated $1 million and featured tight security to keep out the paparazzi.

Pitt, who was born in 1963 in Oklahoma, rose to fame in the early 1990s with roles in such films as Thelma & Louise (1991), A River Runs Through It (1992) and Kalifornia (1993). He went on to build a long list of starring movie credits, including Fight Club (1999), Ocean’s Eleven (2001) and Babel (2006). Aniston, who was born in 1969 in California, became famous for her role as Rachel Green on the hit TV sitcom Friends, which aired from 1994 to 2004. The actress has also made a number of movies, including The Good Girl (2002), Bruce Almighty (2003), Rumor Has It (2005), Wanderlust (2012), We're the Millers (2013) and Cake (2014).

Despite their reputation as one of Hollywood’s golden couples, rumors eventually began to circulate that Aniston and Pitt were having problems. In 2004, speculation swirled that Pitt had become romantically involved with Angelina Jolie, his co-star in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). Over the New Year, Pitt and Aniston were photographed walking hand-in-hand on the beach in Anguilla, yet just days later, while they were still on vacation, a joint statement was issued announcing their separation. Though it seemed to be an amicable breakup, the press speculated that Pitt had wanted to have a family and Aniston–who had recently wrapped up a 10-year-run with Friends and had begun appearing in more films–was reluctant to take a break in her career for motherhood. Pitt was also depicted as being increasingly involved in global charity work, including the AIDS crisis in Africa.

Analysis of the breakup only intensified that spring, after Pitt was photographed with Jolie, a UNICEF representative, and her adopted son at a beach resort in Africa. Soon, they emerged as a full-blown couple, posing as a 1960s-era husband and wife (with a brood of blond children) for a 60-page photo spread titled “Domestic Bliss” in the July 2005 issue of W magazine. Outraged Aniston fans and friends denounced Pitt (who had in fact come up with the concept for the photo spread himself) as insensitive, and Jolie as a glamorous homewrecker. Novelty T-shirts at the time advertised their wearers as belonging to “Team Aniston” or “Team Jolie”; according to Vanity Fair, Aniston T-shirts outsold Jolies 25 to one.

Aniston and Pitt’s divorce was finalized in October 2005. In January 2006, Jolie announced she was pregnant with Pitt’s child; soon after, the news broke that Pitt had successfully adopted Jolie’s children Maddox and Zahara, whose surnames were legally changed to Jolie-Pitt. Pitt and Jolie divorced in 2016.

Rest Easy Knowing Jennifer Aniston And Brad Pitt Won't Be Bennifer-ing Any Time Soon

In the summer of celebrity exes doing the most, there’s at least one famous pairing whose status we don’t need to check up on.

No matter how much we wish it weren’t so, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston are keeping things strictly platonic, as the “Friends” star confirmed to Howard Stern this week.

Fans, of course, have had a renewed investment in the duo ― once dubbed “Braniston” ― after multiple and highly meme-able reunions over the past year (see: the wrist grab felt ’round the world). That includes an unexpectedly flirty table read of “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” last September.

Appearing on “The Howard Stern Show” Wednesday with her onetime co-stars Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox, Aniston told the host that there was zero awkwardness between her and Pitt.

“It was absolutely fun. Brad and I are buddies, we’re friends,” she said, according to People.

“We speak, and there’s no oddness at all, except for everyone that probably watched it and was wanting there to be, or assumed there to be,” Aniston continued, noting that the “Ridgemont” reading raised funds for COVID relief. “We had fun, and it was for a great cause.”

Pitt and Aniston were married from 2000 to 2005 before going their separate ways. Each of them later married and divorced another famous spouse. The “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” actor is still navigating the fallout of his divorce from Angelina Jolie, while Aniston called it quits with Justin Theroux in 2017 after six years together.

Aniston has stayed relatively friendly with both of her exes. She gave Pitt a sweet shoutout ahead of the “Friends” reunion last month, and regularly checks in with Theroux over FaceTime.

As for her own romantic future, Aniston said that all she hopes for in her next relationship is finding a “fantastic partner,” regardless of whether she ties the knot again.

“It’s not on my radar. I’m interested in finding a fantastic partner and just living an enjoyable life and having fun with one another,” she told People in an interview published Wednesday. “That’s all we should hope for. It doesn’t have to be etched in stone in legal documents.”

She has, however, ruled out one place where she absolutely won’t find love: online.

“I’m going to just stick to the normal ways of dating,” she said. “Having someone ask you out. That’s the way I would prefer it.”

Jennifer Aniston Spills on Current Brad Pitt Relationship, If She 'Banged' David Schwimmer

She also opens up about her current dating situation and if she'd get married again.

Jennifer Aniston opened up about her love life -- past and present -- in a pair of new interview with Howard Stern and PEOPLE.

Appearing alongside "Friends" costars Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow on Stern's SiriusXM radio show on Wednesday, the host wondered whether there was any awkwardness between her and ex-husband Brad Pitt when the two reunited in 2020 for a virtual Fast Times at Ridgemont High reading benefitting Sean Penn's CORE non-profit.

"It was absolutely fun. Brad and I are buddies, we're friends," she replied. "And we speak, and there's no oddness at all, except for everyone that probably watched it and was wanting there to be, or assumed there to be."

She added that the two "had fun" and were happy to do it to benefit "a great cause."

Elsewhere in the interview, Stern also asked about the big HBO Max "Friends" reunion revelation that Aniston and costar David Schwimmer were romantically interested in each other in real life while playing on-screen lovers Rachel and Ross. While they were both "crushing" on each other, they swore they "never crossed that boundary" and made it physical. Howard, as only he could, wondered why she didn't "bang" Schwimmer at the time.

"He was lovely, David was great," she said of her costar. "We were in relationships and it was always never the right time and it wouldn't have worked. The beauty of that was that whatever feelings we had we just literally channeled everything into Ross and Rachel and I think that's maybe why it resonated the way it did."

She then said both Courteney and Lisa could "vouch for" her, as Cox said everything Aniston was saying was true.

"Howard's not going to believe me," added Jen. "No, I would proudly say I banged Schwimmer if that happened. But no."

The interview comes in tandem with a cover story for PEOPLE, in which Aniston also opened up about her current love life.

"I'm in a really peaceful place. I have a job that I love, I have people in my life who are everything to me, and I have beautiful dogs," she told the publication. "I'm just a very fortunate and blessed human being."

She said she would "absolutely" not be popping up on any dating apps and is "going to just stick to the normal ways of dating. Having someone ask you out. That's the way I would prefer it."

When asked if she would ever get married again, the twice-divorced star replied, "Oh God, I don't know."

She added, "It's not on my radar. I'm interested in finding a fantastic partner and just living an enjoyable life and having fun with one another. That's all we should hope for. It doesn't have to be etched in stone in legal documents."

A timeline of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's history (featuring Angelina Jolie and Justin Theroux)

With Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt's various red carpet appearances this month, you'd be forgiven for thinking we were back in 2003. But no, you don't have to choose between Team Jen and Team Angelina (that mentality is so 15 years ago) and instead, can enjoy riding the wave that is the exes getting friendly again.

Now 50 and 56 respectively, Jen and Brad are both single again, 22 years after they first fell for each other (and later married someone else). Here's a detailed look back at their complicated history, from their Malibu wedding to Mr and Mrs Smith.

Brad Pitt, 35, and, 29, Jennifer Aniston go on their first date after reportedly being set up by their agents. &ldquoIt was weird&hellipThat was a really easy evening," Jen said of the date in a 2004 interview. "That was really fun.&rdquo

September 1999

Forget Instagram official, the couple go red carpet official at the Emmy awards. Thanks to Brad's tiny sunglasses and Jen's incredible half-messy hair, this is one to remember.

November 1999

Brad and Jen hint that they're engaged on stage at a Sting concert at New York's Beacon Theatre, flashing a big ring and joining in his song which includes the lyrics, "We&rsquore going to Vegas, we&rsquore gonna get wed / So fill her up, son, don&rsquot be staring / Yeah, that&rsquos a real diamond she be wearing."

The couple get married in a lavish Malibu ceremony with 200 guests, 50,000 flowers, four bands, a gospel choir, and fireworks. This was the venue:

2000 - 20023

Brad and Jen attend a lot of red carpet events together, in a lot of questionable outfits (this is not even all of them):

February 2004

Jen tells The Guardian she's ready to start a family with Brad, commenting: "It's time. It's time. You know, I think you can work with a baby, I think you can work pregnant, I think you can do all of it. So I'm just truly looking forward to slowing down."

Brad meets Angelina Jolie on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith.

Two years later in a 2006 interview with Vogue, Angelina described what falling in love with Brad on set was like: "Because of the film we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened. I think a few months in I realised, 'God, I can&rsquot wait to get to work.'

"Whether it was shooting a scene or arguing about a scene or gun practice or dance class or doing stunts&mdashanything we had to do with each other, we just found a lot of joy in it together and a lot of real teamwork. We just became kind of a pair. And it took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realise that it might mean something more than we&rsquod earlier allowed ourselves to believe. And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration."

January 2005

Five years after getting married, Brad and Jen release a joint statement to announce their split. It reads:

Photos emerge of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie on the beach together, confirming they are in a relationship.

Jen speaks out about the pics a year later in a 2006 interview with Vanity Fair, saying in hindsight:

Late May 2005

Angelina denies cheating with Brad during an interview with Marie Claire, saying: "To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive. I could not, could not look at myself in the morning if I did that."

She claims, "I am not dating anybody. I think the next man I get involved with would have to become Maddox&rsquos father [the son she adopted in 2002], and that&rsquos a high bar as far as I&rsquom concerned. I&rsquom not anticipating that coming anytime soon."

The source claimed Pitt was “going all guns blazing” to retain the French chateau that he co-owns with his former wife, Angelina Jolie. The informant revealed Pitt was “hell-bent on getting the chateau in their settlement and ensuring he can marry the true love of his life there.” According to the source, Aniston, who split from Pitt in 2005, was hesitant to remarry Pitt in the exact location he wed Jolie. “But,” the insider added, “ Brad insisted it would be completely different – something simpler and more intimate. Jen always fantasized about a romantic French wedding on an estate entrenched in such spectacular history. 2020 is all about being free from Angelina and starting their new lives together.”

For obvious reasons, the report was false. Let’s start with the simple fact that Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, have not gotten back together, which is a narrative Gossip Cop has often corrected. The popular former spouses are good friends, but that’s as far as their relationship extends. As for the idea Pitt would remarry his first ex-wife at the same location he married his second wife, Gossip Cop didn’t even feel the need to clarify this, but we did. Separate reps for Aniston and Pitt have assured us the story was bogus. As of now, Pitt still shares ownership of the Chateau Miraval with Angelina Jolie, and given the former pair’s intense divorce battle, we doubt Pitt would stoop that low to hurt his wife.

Overall, New Idea isn’t the most reliable source when it comes to Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. Last month, the tabloid claimed Aniston was heartbroken that Pitt was flirting with Lady Gaga. Last year, the outlet alleged Pitt and Aniston planned to adopt a child from an orphanage in Mexico together. Gossip Cop debunked these ridiculous stories and will continue so every time a tabloid makes one of these ridiculous claims.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston Relationship History:

It was 1998 and Rachel from ‘Friends’ started dating Hollywood’s most desirable actor. Jennifer and Brad’s agents were friends and they introduced the two. They started dating soon.

In 1999, they were spotted together at the Emmys, making the public go wild. One year later, Brad and Jennifer tied the knot in an extravagant wedding in Malibu. The 200 guests included many celebrities and Jennifer’s ‘Friends’ costars too.

“We just wanted to keep it special. Keep it ours,” Brad Pitt said.

Just five years after the fairy tale wedding, Brad and Jennifer separated. “We would like to announce that after seven years together we have decided to formally separate. For those who follow these sorts of things, we would like to explain that our separation is not the result of any of the speculation reported by the tabloid media”, said the two in a statement.

The ‘tabloid reports’ that they were referring to was the rumor that Brad was cheating on Jennifer with Angelina Jolie. A few months later, Brad was spotted with Angelina, confirming the rumors.

Jennifer was not pleased and she was hurt after she said, “There’s a sensitivity chip that’s missing.”

The same year, Brad and Jennifer’s divorce was finalized.

In 2008, Jennifer opened up about the alleged ‘Brangelina’ affair.

Angelina hinted that she and Brad were dating during the filming of ‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ in an interview. The movie was filmed before Brad and Jennifer’s split!

“There was stuff printed there that was definitely from a time when I was unaware that it was happening,” Jennifer said about Angelina’s interview. Soon, Brad and Jennifer went on their separate ways.

Brad married Angelina in 2014 and Jennifer married Justin Theroux in 2015. In 2016, Brad and Angelina divorced, while Jennifer announced separation from Justin in 2018.

Recently, Jennifer and Brad were seen meeting each other at the 2020 SAG Awards. A picture of their friendly encounter went viral on the internet.

A source close to the two stars told the media that Brad and Jennifer have gone on ‘at least five dates’. However, there’s been no official word from Brad or Jennifer confirming it. Meanwhile, OK Magazine recently claimed that Brad and Jennifer are set to confirm their relationship in a forthcoming interview.

Well, this might be just a made-up story and should be taken with a grain of salt. However, even though they have a rough history, it’s nice to see they are still friends.

Let&rsquos Brush Up on Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt&rsquos Relationship History, Shall We?

The year is 2020, but thanks to Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, I am spiritually living in the &rsquo90s. Like, I&rsquom one emotional crisis away from buying low-rise cargo pants and a pair of Steve Madden slides, that&rsquos all I&rsquom saying.

Anyway, it&rsquos been 84 years since Brad and Jen had the most dramatic divorce ever (truly, Miley and Liam, whomst?), and now they&rsquore quite literally partying like it&rsquos 1999. Fans are convinced these two are getting back together, so let&rsquos all familiarize ourselves with deets about their relationship real quick, mmkay?

Brad gives the shadiest interview EVER to Parade, basically insulting his marriage to Jen:

&ldquoI spent the &rsquo90s trying to hide out, trying to duck the full celebrity cacophony. I started to get sick of myself sitting on a couch, holding a joint, hiding out. It started feeling pathetic. It became very clear to me that I was intent on trying to find a movie about an interesting life, but I wasn&rsquot living an interesting life myself. I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn&rsquot.

&ldquoI put much more emphasis on being a satisfied man. I&rsquom satisfied with making true choices and finding the woman I love, Angie, and building a family that I love so much. A family is a risky venture, because the greater the love, the greater the loss&hellipthat&rsquos the trade-off. But I&rsquoll take it all.&rdquo

I mean, at this point, it&rsquos starting to become&mdashplease, give more credit to these human beings.&rdquo

February 16, 2018

&ldquoHe&rsquos taken responsibility,&rdquo the source continues. &ldquoHe&rsquos tried to make amends. He didn&rsquot realize the magnitude of the hurt he caused Jen at the time. He was so swept up in Angelina Jolie, he couldn&rsquot see outside that tunnel.&rdquo

Another Us Weekly source comes out of the woodwork and says, &ldquoBrad and Jen have a wonderful connection that might seem flirtatious at times. September 23, 2020

Naturally, after their virtual reunion, the whole &ldquoWill Brad and Jen finally date again?&rdquo conversations bubbled up again. But take note: Us sources said they definitely don&rsquot appreciate when people do that. They explained, &ldquoIt used to bug them how everyone pulls for them to get back together, but now they laugh it off.&hellipThey don&rsquot want to milk this &lsquofriendly exes&rsquo dynamic they&rsquove got going on too much. They&rsquore both very mindful of that.&rdquo

So as of now, they&rsquore simply friends! And Brad is fully dating Nicole Poturalski, so go ahead and bury any hopes and dreams of the two exes dating anytime soon.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's Relationship Timeline

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Jen revealed that, thanks to their managers, the actors met for the first time in 1994, saying 'He was just this sweet guy from Missouri, you know?'

A few years later, after both splitting from their significant others (Jen with Tate Donovan and Brad with Gwyneth Paltrow), they went on their very first date, arranged by their managers. Jen would later say that from this very first date, they both knew.

It wasn't long before Hollywood's newest, hottest couple made their red carpet debut at the 1999 Emmy's.

Only a few months later, the couple attended a Sting concert in New York City where they joined the singer on stage so Jen could flash her new rock — a diamond engagement ring. They sang along to Sting's song ɿill ɾr Up', which has some pretty poignant lyrics: 'We're going to Vegas, we're gonna get wed / So fill her up, son, don't be staring / Yeah, that's a real diamond she be wearing.'

Nine months later, Jen and Brad are wed in a magical Malibu celebration with 200 guests, 50,000 flowers, four bands, fireworks and a gospel choir, according to People.

How Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston's relationship developed since 2005 divorce

It’s been 15 years since the divorce of celebrity icons Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt. Despite their long and complicated dating history, the stars have managed to rekindle their friendship.

Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston have been making headlines lately for how they've become "breakup couple goals."

The actors, who split in 2005, ran into each other backstage at the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards in January and sent shockwaves through the Internet when they embraced.

Pitt, 56, won outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting role in a motion picture for his role in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" and Aniston, 50, took home the statue for outstanding female in a drama series for "The Morning Show."

Aniston was caught laughing during Pitt's acceptance speech and then when she won he watched her backstage on a monitor, which sent hearts into a flutter on Twitter.

When asked about his reaction to her win, Aniston admitted to Extra, "That’s so sweet. . It’s just, we’ve all grown up together, we really have and it just feels like a really fun night to celebrate and, you know, cheer each other on and keep working.”

At the 2020 Golden Globes, which both stars appeared at, Pitt told Entertainment Tonight, "I'll run into Jen, she's a good friend. Yeah." He won best actor in a supporting role for "OUATH" and Aniston was snapped smiling as he made the following joke:

"I want to say hi to my folks, because hey! They're back in the Ozarks," Pitt said onstage. "I wanted to bring my mom, but I couldn't, because anyone I stand next to, they say I'm dating. . It would just be awkward."

The couple was married from 2000 to 2005. Pitt moved on with actress Angelina Jolie after they fell for each other on the set of the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith."

Aniston told Vanity Fair in 2006 that the alleged cheating scandal shocked her. "The world was shocked, and I was shocked," she revealed. "I can't say it was one of the highlights of my year. Who would deal with that and say, 'Isn't that sweet! That looks like fun!'? But sh*t happens. You joke and say, 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.'"

"I would be a robot if I said I didn't feel moments of anger, of hurt, of embarrassment," she added.

Aniston tried to rise above all the drama and never publicly bad-mouthed him. "I'm not interested in taking public potshots," she explained. "It's not my concern anymore. What happened to him after the separation -- it's his life now. I've made a conscious effort not to add to the toxicity of this situation. I haven't retaliated. I don't want to be a part of it. I don't have a halo that I'm polishing here everyone has their personal thoughts. But I would much rather everyone move on."

Aniston went on marry actor Justin Theroux in 2015, but they announced they were separating in February 2018.

Pitt eventually married Jolie in 2014, but she filed for divorce from him in September 2016. Their split was followed by intense drama surrounding a custody battle over their six kids -- Maddox, 18, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 13, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 11.

The "Fight Club" actor also got sober after the split. Pitt told the New York Times in September that he started attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings after having “taken things as far as I could take” them -- “I removed my drinking privilege."

He admitted to GQ in 2017, "Truthfully I could drink a Russian under the table with his own vodka. I was a professional. I was good.”

Now at calmer points in their lives, Aniston and Pitt have become friends. He even went to her 50th birthday party in February 2019 at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif. and also reportedly attended her star-studded holiday party in December at her Bel-Air home.
